I'm Back ...

I’ve been a bit quiet (or entirely muted to be precise) on the blogging front lately.  I should hopefully correct this soon.

I did a workshop with a big customer who is looking to upgrade from AS2000 to AS2005 in the Beta3 timeframe.  The demo alone lasted almost 3 hours; I think they appreciated the volume of content.  I might therefore have some material to post on the AS2005 front.

I’ve also been doing some .NET architecture work around the Enterprise Library.  I looked at how to deploy it, along with default configuration files for each app block, in a distributed enterprise environment whilst maximising standardisation and control over versioning etc.  There are some good blogs about it like that of Baz Hisham.

Other than that, I’ve been polishing off my presentation for PASS, which I am pretty excited about.  This should be a great event.  I’m especially looking forward to the following presentations.

  • Chris Webb’s presentation entitled New Cube Design Features in Analysis Services 2005.  Chris knows a lot about MDX and AS, so this should be a great session.
  • Kimberly Tripp’s pre-conference seminar.  She is a live wire and her presentations are always engaging.

Not to mention a host of other SQL Server heavyweights who will be presenting …
