More Opens Source stuff this time from Google - who announced their Open Source Browser in a direct fight with FireFox Google KNOW very well how we browse and use the web - so now it's there turn to deliver a browser that we need based on our browsing habits..
Here is the comic that was "leaked" last week - but Google followed this up with an announcement on their Blog
So how will this stack up against FireFox3 and not sure anyone is really "looking forward" to IE8 (apart from the hackers) but will people really go for another browser? There have been some great browsers in the past that never lit up the skyline Flock - for example was hailed as a true web2.0 social web browser browser for the 21st century - but after some initial marketing and blogs such as these - nothing much!
Seems to be a real apathy and laziness - takes users long enough to jump the clunky world of IE to FireFox - and worried about their bookmarks and "all my passwords are remembered on that - it's just easier to stay on IE"
So being a lazy browser means that you are at risk of losing experiences, additional services and how the web is evolving with rich digital media and social networking - not to mention your details that you have stored on their ;)
Get smart and try a few new browsers see which one works best for your web habits now that there is more to the web than a collection of simple HTML pages - incase some people haven't noticed - it's a different world out there - so go on - why not change your browser!
Finally on Google's use of Open Source for this project - I will leave you with a snippet from the blog where Google thank, among others Apple & Mozilla for their input...
"We owe a great debt to many open source projects, and we're committed to continuing on their path. We've used components from Apple's WebKit and Mozilla's Firefox, among others -- and in that spirit, we are making all of our code open source as well. We hope to collaborate with the entire community to help drive the web forward."
if you put together a team of developers from Google that were suing their knowledge - team that up with Apple and Mozilla code - you would expect something rather tasty, new and shiny: CHROME!
