TFS Notification Web Services - Project Template v.1.1

Shortly after the release of v1.0 I spotted a post from Pete Sheill, who said I had missed a couple of events and that I had included support for events that are no longer raised – or raised inconsistently.

In this updated version I’ve added support for the following events:

  • CheckInEvent
  • NodeCreatedEvent
  • NodeRenamedEvent
  • NodesDeletedEvent
  • ProjectCreatedEvent
  • ProjectDeletedEvent

I’ve also marked the following events as obsolete:

  • AclChangedEvent
  • IdentityCreatedEvent
  • IdentityDeletedEvent
  • MembershipChangedEvent

You can download the updated Project Template from my CodePlex project. If you do use this template – I’d be interested to know what customisations you’ve been implementing.

I've not had a chance to test the template against SP1 - if you put a breakpoint  before:

this.CreateInstance<EventType>(eventXml);

And then examine eventXml you should be able to see what information is being sent. If you're seeing fields in the eventXml that's not represented in the classes I've generated, then you need to update the classes. If I get any time soon I'll upgrade the project to run on SP1

I've added the zip (TFS Notification Web Services.zip) to "C:\Documents and Settings\bhopenw\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Templates\ProjectTemplates" When I open VS 2005 SP1 and goto File->New->Web Site I don't see anything in the "My Templates" Section expect the search for on-line templates. Is there a .vsi or something I am missing.

I'll try and make some time this week to take a look into the problems you've been experiencing - there much be some schema change as part of SP1 that invalidated the project. You can send me a message via the "email" link on this page I'll let you know when I've fixed it.

I've found a bug in the code that means that the XmlArrayItemAttribute for the TextFields array was wrong.

Events\WorkItemChangedEvent.cs line 132 should read:

[XmlArrayItemAttribute("TextField", IsNullable = false)]

I will look into the other issues and post version 1.3 ASAP
