I’m glad to report that, 2 months after I launched it, SQL Server Mesh code repository is still going strong. We’re now approaching 100 members (there were 53 at last count) with more members and more content being added every day. If you are submitting content then I encourage you to blog about it, tweet about it (use hashtag #sqlmesh) and/or put a comment in the folder’s newsfeed explaining more about the submission.
One thing I want to draw attention to is the following guideline (as stated in the original announcement):
- Any file that is placed into the folder should contain comments that ideally include usage guidelines and author. Any file that doesn’t contain any comments will probably be removed.
I’ve noticed the odd one or two submissions that don’t adhere to this and hence I’ve seen fit to remove them. I don’t want the repository to be a dumping ground for incomprehensible stuff (e.g. zip files with no additional comments), I want it to be useful. If there are no easily visible comments explaining what the submission is and what its useful for then there’s not much point in it being there. Sorry.
I also noticed earlier today that someone had, for some reason, made a copy of every single folder.
Not really sure why someone would do this – I guess its one of the perils of making the folder public. Still, its easily fixed and I’ve put it right:
Don’t forget that if you’re using Windows Vista/2008/7 then desktop search is your friend. Want to know all the SQL files containing something to do with dates? Let search do the work for you:
One final note, there are 20 people that have requested an invite to the folder that haven’t yet accepted. Its likely that those invites have now expired so if you find yourself in that situation then just drop me a mail and I’ll send another invite your way.
Thanks all. Keep contributing!
