Last Friday 20th July saw Conchango host its half yearly update at the Barbican.
The whole Conchango team gathered at the London Bridge office. It started as one of our normal 6 weekly community days which was full of knowledge sharing, project updates, brainstorming, champagne... Then after lunch, and a flood in the office due to heavy rains, we all headed to the Barbican to find the cinema we had booked was also flooded! Luckily another one on the top floor was available so we settled in to listen to various presentations given by:
Richard Thwaite (MD) who updated us on company strategy (Technology, Business and Interactive Media)
Alan Griffin (FD) who filled us in on the numbers and showed we are above our targets at the half year mark so should easily overachieve the target turnover we set ourselves at the beginning of the year. Great work team.
Paul Dawson (Head of IM) who filled us in on his tour of Europe where he presented at REMIX on WPF and Silverlight.
David Da Silva (Head of Media) updated us on the Harrods.com project.
The Marketing Manager of Tesco.com came in to thank us for all our hard work and congratulate the team on a great job done so far on the redesign of Tesco.com.
After the presentations we headed down to the Garden Room for a pub quiz, the 200 people that attended were split into teams and challenged on questions on Music, Sport, General Knowledge,Geography, Conchango (or to be more exact the Directors...) and a Picture round (Did anyone guess cocktail sticks?). Three cheers to the Keni Who? team (made up of Keni Barwick, James Broome, Owen Wragg, Anastasia Konstantinova, Michael Ciba, Matt Ratcliffe, Michael Knight and Me!!!!!). We shall spend the prize vouchers with great pleasure.
Once the games were finished we headed to the Conservatory for food, drink, caricatures (to be scanned on), a surprisingly good magician and as the night went on dancing to Disco Dave and his sparkly bowtie.
I am not sure what time the last person left the dancefloor but I do know it was in the early hours.
Thanks to Jemma Gillman, Kate Frost and Michelle Lindsay for organising the day, great success as always!
