On 29th January Sam and I attended the Chinwag Live: Skills Emergency event in Soho.
It was an interesting event and for those of you who know me you will not be surprised that I had to have a my say. If you would like to hear what went on check out the podcast.
The main point I was making (about an hour into the podcast) was yes we all know there is a skills shortage but if you do not make recruitment a priority how do you expect to recruit. The excuse of "we are too busy" is not good enough.
Since we stopped using agencies 18 months ago we have successfully recruited 150 permanent people into our team as we make recruitment a top priority. We have also saved over £1.3million in agencies fees which we invest back into our team with training, progression and team building. The only loser is the recruitment agencies who will need to find another way to fund their fast living lifestyles.
