In simple terms they give you a little box you plug into your broadband connection and you plug your phone into this box. You get a real phone number (you are free to choose from a UK, Canadian, US or Mexican number!) and all your calls are routed over the internet. So where ever you plug this little box into the internet you can receive and make calls. The beauty of it, is how cheap this service is, your line rental is only £9.99 a month, you get unlimited local and national calls to the UK and Ireland and if you call another Vonage user the call is free. Thats regardless if they live in Canada, Mexico, UK or USA.
